Gift Classes in Wheel-Throwing
Gift Classes in Wheel-Throwing
2 Hour Gift Classes in Wheel-Throwing
Two hour classes can be bought as gifts. We have classes that are designed to be both for complete beginners or for people at a more advanced stage in their wheel-throwing. You are welcome to purchase a single session or a block of classes according to preference. If purchasing a block then we will devise lesson plans according to requirements.
Times and dates are flexible so the 'giftee' should contact the studio within 6 months of receipt of the gift to arrange this.
All the classes at the studio are taught either by Jo Davies or one of her assistant tutors using her method of teaching.
These classes are intended for adults.
These are fun classes for 1, 2, 3 or 4 people and will take place at the Jo Davies Studio. They can be treated as a one-off experience or block bookings of classes can be made.
Classes on Saturday are available to be booked every week at the following times: 9:30-11:30am / 12:30-2:30pm / 3-5pm
Dates for the next available classes on Sundays: 24 February 24 March, 5 May, 26 May at 1-3pm. Please get in touch to enquire about availability.
Weekday classes are available at flexible times, including some evenings, but all are subject to availability.
All class bookings should be made in advance by getting in touch with the studio using the contact details on this website.
You are welcome to contact the studio prior to purchase to enquire about the timing of the class. Alternatively, the giftee can get in touch with us to arrange a time that is convenient for them.
The classes take place at the studio where it's also possible to purchase items from the Jo Davies Collection.
All tools and equipment are provided
Firing and glazing are included but you may want to glaze your work yourself so just let your teacher know on the day.
Things to consider ahead of the day:
You may want to bring an apron
Wear clothes you don't mind getting splashed - all materials wash out easily though.
We prefer our students to wear trousers or shorts rather than skirts because of the practicalities of throwing at a potter’s wheel (skirts can be a little physically restricting for this activity) but if you’re happy then we’re happy.
Arrive with short fingernails - this is very helpful when throwing and long fingernails can really get in the way of your enjoyment of the process.
Please plan your journey to the studio so you can arrive on time. Classes cannot go on beyond the allocated time and we want you to have the maximum amount of enjoyment from the class.
The Class will take place at the Jo Davies Studio at the Chocolate Factory, Farleigh Place, London, N16 7SX. MAP
Your place on a gift class should be booked on a day you are able to attend. This is because we often have to turn away customers when our class schedule is fully booked and we don’t like to have gaps if we don’t need to as we want to make sure as many people as possible can enjoy a class here at the studio. If you need to re-schedule your class then this is possible up to 14 days prior to the day of the class, after this point you may forfeit your class according to the discretion of the studio. The gift class cannot be exchanged for cash.
If the class has not yet been booked by the ‘giftee’ then a gift class can be exchanged for an item or items from the Jo Davies Ceramics collection up to the value of the class. Any difference in price above the total value must be paid. The gift class cannot be exchanged for cash.
Cancellation of a class by the Jo Davies Studio will incur a full refund or postponement of the class according to the preference of the customer.
