These bespoke throwing classes are designed for people who have a little experience of wheel-throwing already and wish to improve or tackle particular recurring issues in their throwing. Jo is highly experienced at this type of class where close attention to the details of your technique can resolve problems. It can be very hard to understand why recurring stumbling blocks in your throwing keep happening without a good teacher observing and adjusting your technique. These classes are not about changing the way you throw, more about giving what are often small improvements that make big differences.
These problems may include:
Consistency in Centring
Pulling-up the clay
Gaining more height
Moving the weight from the base of pots
Improving the design considerations in the work
Throwing at a larger scale
Resolving issues that can come up later like cracking and warping
Gaining confidence in your throwing
We will discuss your learning requirements by email or over the phone ahead of the class to maximise your time. A single or short series of lessons may be preferred but often a single class is enough to highlight areas of attention and offer resolutions.
Days and times are arranged flexibly with some evening availability. You can either purchase a class and then contact the studio to arrange a time or contact the studio first to check availability before purchasing studio@jo-davies.com

Please note that these classes take place at Jo’s Studio in Hereford city near the Welsh Border. All instructions on getting to the studio will be provided on request or after purchase of a class.

You are welcome to purchase a Master Class as a gift but please let the studio know the name of the person it’s intended for. Once purchased, it’s preferred that the student themselves contact the studio to arrange a date and time. The class should be taken within 12 months of purchase.
