Called ‘Speak Vases because of the characterful forms that seem to invite interaction, this Speak Vase is an unusual small black ceramic vase with two fluted openings, gilded on the inside of the gently twisting flutes with 24-carat gold leaf.

Handmade from wheel-thrown porcelain and glazed with a black satin-matt glaze. 24-ct gold leaf is carefully applied by hand to the inside of the flutes, to subtly draw attention to the unique spiralling ‘twist’ - a natural throwing line emphasised by the artist.

Two fluted openings are set asymmetrically on the rounded, pebble-smooth body, for creative floral displays, although this vase is an interesting decorative piece in its own right.

Glazed with tactile, satin-matt stoneware manganese glaze.
