This vessel is part of Jo Davies’ Unique Objects range, decorated with abstract splashes of cobalt blue oxide fired into the surface and 24ct goldleaf added after firing using traditional gilding techniques. The surface markings are unique.
This is a porcelain lidded container with a gently undulating edge to its lid in order to provide touch-points where the lid is lifted. This Blue and Gold iteration of the Curl Vessel has blue and gold markings that go around the surface of the object. The gilding is stabilised using traditional shellac but is not designed to withstand excessive use so should be treated carefully and washed by hand.
As with all items in the entire range, this piece was hand-thrown on the wheel by Jo Davies and glazed with tactile, satin-matt stoneware crackle glaze in white, with cobalt and goldleaf decorative surface decoration.

Care Instructions:
Handwash only using soft cloths. Please do not use abrasive chemicals on this surface. Gilded items can be used carefully but the 24ct goldleaf surface is delicate. The gilded element of their surface has been stabilised and protected by shellac but care should be taken in its use.
